Hash, HMAC and Text Encoding Generator

Type text once and get MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and HMAC-SHA256 digests plus Base64, URL-encoded and HTML-escaped versions, updated live.

About Hash, HMAC and Text Encoding Generator

Enter or paste text and this tool computes several hashes and encodings at the same time, refreshing as you type. MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 digests and the HMAC-SHA256 signature are calculated with the Web Crypto API in your browser and shown as lowercase hexadecimal. For the HMAC, type your secret key into the key field and the signature updates immediately.

The same input is also converted to Base64 (UTF-8 safe), percent-encoded for use in URLs, and HTML-escaped so that &, <, >, double quotes and single quotes become entities. Every result has its own Copy button. It is handy for checking API request signatures, comparing checksums or preparing strings for query parameters and markup. This tool encodes only; it does not decode.

Questions

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. SHA digests and the HMAC are computed with the browser's Web Crypto API, and the encodings use built-in JavaScript functions, all on your device.

Which HMAC algorithm is used?

HMAC with SHA-256. The key is read as UTF-8 text from the key field and the signature is shown in hexadecimal.

Can it decode Base64 or URL-encoded text?

No. Every output is one-way from your input text; decoding is not part of this tool.
